JaxCoHome is the online face of Jackson County, Mississippi. Local good news will be a positive source of content—an ongoing “brag book” about the quality of life in Jackson County. Our mission is to provide a positivity-based, go-to site and app featuring inside stories that show what makes Jackson County special.
Core content is written by our team, as well as contributors who sign up to submit content to the Jaxcohome.com website. Content is then posted selectively throughout the app and social media.
Our audience is made up of Jackson County residents from all walks of life, as well as anyone who has lived here previously. We place a special emphasis on drawing new residents to the area, helping to fill jobs in our local industries. This includes Chevron Pascagoula Refinery and Ingalls Shipbuilding, who is the largest employer in the state of Mississippi.
This is not a revenue generator. It is a community partnership that has evolved because our local media tends to cover generic, tabloid-style news. Our local industry needs an easy, logical, and engaging outlet to feature positive things happening in Jackson County. This means activity in our schools, environmental groups, and business community, as well as contributions from standout scholars, athletes, and residents in general.
Scheduled topics include education, environment, business, living, and the endeavors of our citizens; JaxCoHome is home to all things good. Additional and desired topics cover non-profit organizations in the county that suffer from lack of exposure. These include the Pascagoula River Audubon Center, Grand Bay NERR (coastal estuary), Gulf Coast Research Lab (marine biology center), Excel by 5 (mobile STEM lab that visits students), city and county schools of all grades, county-wide athletics, commerce chambers and economic development groups, local government resources, and many more. Additionally, Jackson County has a large ecotourism presence. JaxCoHome will grow to help draw more tourists in the future.
